Game No. 3: U.S. 39, China 12
The U.S. took a 7-0 lead early against China and never trailed throughout the game. Quarterback Vanita Krouch continued her stellar performance, completing 14 of 21 passes for 129 yards, four touchdowns and two extra points in the first half. Krouch is now 36-1 in IFAF-sanctioned competitions as the U.S. Women’s National Team’s quarterback.
Backup quarterback Maci Joncich, who is still the youngest member of the team despite winning a world championship with the program in 2024, took over in the second half. She completed nine of 13 pass attempts for 120 yards, two touchdowns, an extra point and an interception.
Joncich and Krouch spread the ball around, tossing touchdowns to five different players. Isabella Geraci led all receivers with nine receptions on ten targets for 84 yards, a touchdown and an extra point. Ashlea Klam caught both of her targets for 23 yards and a score.
Madison Fulford, who scored the game’s opening touchdown, contributed five receptions on eight targets for 56 yards, a touchdown and an extra point. Additionally, the dominant vertical threat drew a defensive penalty with less than a minute remaining in the first half on a deep fade to the end zone. The penalty yardage set up another U.S. score.
London Jenkins, fresh off helping Florida Gateway College win the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Women’s Flag Football National Championship as a college freshman, showcased her elusiveness and electric playmaking ability, catching five passes for 67 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Brianna Hernandez-Silva, an alternate on the 2024 U.S. Women’s National Team, scored the first official touchdown of her U.S. National Team career on a four-yard catch. Hernandez-Silva was the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) Offensive Player of the Year twice during her prolific college career.
Defensive back Deliah Autry-Jones, one of two players remaining on the team from the 2022 U.S. Women’s National Team that competed in flag football’s debut at The World Games, intercepted China twice. Her goal line interception late in the second half was the game’s final play. Autry-Jones has recorded all three of the team’s interceptions this week.
With the offense rolling, Klam took snaps on defense. She led the team with six flag pulls and two passes defended. Laneah Bryan also broke up two passes.
