Be part of the next generation of elite flag athletes
Through the National Team Development Program, flag football players from around the country will hone their skills and raise their game as they train, compete, and are evaluated to represent their region at USA Football's Select Bowl!
The events in the program prepare and showcase players' character and skill in both practice and competitive environments. On-going athlete development is measured and evaluated, with top performances further cementing consideration for U.S. National Team Trial invite opportunities.
The National Team Development Program pathway offers players the chance to train and showcase their skills in camp, combine and game settings in front of scouts and personnel.
More exposure means more opportunity for coaches and evaluators to see how athletes perform in practice and competitive environments.
Select Team athletes can further develop and showcase their growth throughout the National Team Development Program.
Every year, thousands of athletes are evaluated for the U.S. Flag National Team or a Junior National Team. To support the next generation of athletes on the cusp of greatness and give more athletes a chance to #RepTheFlag, USA Football leads the National Team Development Program!
USA Football is building this developmental pipeline to feed future National Teams competing in international competitions, including the Olympics.
Select Team athletes are exposed to further testing in-line with the premier offerings provided to the U.S. National Team roster. Athletic potential will be maximized by the engagement with National and Select Team Personnel in the following areas:
Athletes will receive these resources throughout the year both live (virtual/in-person) and on-demand.
Athletes looking to earn a spot on a Select Team for the Select Bowl must become a USA Football Athlete Member. You'll also be eligible for Talent ID Camps, Sanctioned Tournament, and the National Team Development Program. Plus, you'll get access to digital resources, accident insurance, and more!
The main way is through our Talent ID Camps! Show off your skills, refine your techniques and help us identify and develop the best flag football players at USA Football's 1-day Talent ID Camps. Each camp features areas to help you up your game:
Talent ID Camps are part of the National Team Development Program. Participants in Talent ID Camps will be eligible for an invitation to either the U.S. National Team Trials or a roster position on a USA Football Select Team (based on age and/or skill). Select Teams will compete in USA Football's Select Bowl.
USA Football offers more than 20 Select Team opportunities. Each team has specially trained coaching staff who lead athletes in the USA Football Select Bowl.
The Select Bowl brings together top rising flag athletes from across the country to train for the next level of national competition in front of U.S. National Team Scouts.
The pathway to the Select Bowl starts for athletes at a USA Football Talent ID Camp, Official Sanctioned Tournament, or a GMTM Digital Combine.
Athletes who join the National Team Development Program pathway and show out during a USA Football talent evaluation event can earn a spot on a Select Team that will compete at the Select Bowl.
USA Football is dedicated to providing top-notch instruction and resources to foster the growth of elite flag football now and in the future.
The National Team Development Program not only aims to introduce the future generation of athletes to the U.S. National Team Program, but it also stands to identify the next generation of coaches.
Coaches interested in being part of the National Team Development Program can start their pathway by applying to coach at a Talent ID Camp.
Coaches must become Coach Members and complete the application process to be evaluated and considered for a coaching role at a Talent ID Camp (spots are limited and final selection is not guaranteed).
USA Football’s National Team Development Program (NTDP) is open to athletes aged 11-23 in the following divisions:
Athletes are eligible to participate in the gender category listed on their birth certificate (there are no coed divisions). If a birth certificate is not available, USA Football may accept state ID cards, passports, or other government issued documents, in that order.
Participants in USA Football operated or sanctioned events may be required to provide proof of eligibility at these events.

Flag football players nationwide are trained, identified, and invited to be part of the next level of competition through USA Football's National Team Development Program.
The program's events prepare and showcase players' character and skill in both practice and competitive environments. Ongoing athlete development is measured and evaluated, with top performances throughout the event cycle earning invites to the U.S. Flag National Team Trials presented by Under Armour.
The National Team Development Program focuses on helping athletes enhance their skills to become the next generation of talent. The program offers a structured environment for elite skill development, along with opportunities for athletes to demonstrate their abilities in both practice and competitive settings. Athletes also gain exposure to U.S. Flag National Team coaches and staff.
The National Team Development Program (NTDP) is the premier pathway for flag football athletes, designed to develop the next generation of U.S. National Team players.
NTDP athletes are introduced early into the National Team pipeline and receive elite coaching, performance assessments, and feedback from evaluators. The program culminates in the Select Bowl, USA Football's NTDP National Championship, where athletes compete with and against the best in the country.
Through the NTDP, athletes refine their elite flag football skills to excel on a national stage while gaining the necessary tools to secure victory and represent the United States in future National Team competitions.
