Why we updated the USA football mark.

Evolving the mark. Preserving the Meaning.

As USA Football continues to grow and reach more athletes, families, and fans nationwide, the scale and visibility of the organization are expanding in ways that demand a stronger, more adaptable identity. With increased exposure across digital platforms, broadcast environments, events, partnerships, and future applications we have yet to imagine, it was critical that our mark evolve to meet the moment. The updated USA Football logo strengthens clarity, consistency, and performance across every use while preserving the heritage, recognition, and trust built over time. Retaining the football icon was intentional, serving as a clear bridge between where USA Football began and where it is headed. This is not a reinvention, but a refinement; a modernized identity designed to project leadership, ensure brand integrity, and carry USA Football confidently into the next generation.

Built to scale with TEAM USA FOOTBALL®

These updates anticipate real-world usage as TEAM USA FOOTBALL® becomes more prominent. The refined typography system ensures clean hierarchy and clarity when USA, TEAM, and FOOTBALL are combined—avoiding visual tension and maintaining consistency across both brands.

A more mature, authoritative color expression

As the program moves toward Olympic competition, the palette needed to feel more confident and less decorative. Deeper tones convey discipline, seriousness, and competitive credibility—aligning with a national team, not a youth or recreational league.

Refined FOOTBALL typography for cohesion & credibility

The updated FOOTBALL typeface is better aligned with the existing USA wordmark—improving balance, consistency, and legibility. This creates a more polished, professional expression that better reflects the level of competition and the future of the program.

More disciplined color strategy

Shifting USA FOOTBALL to a single navy blue creates a stronger contrast and a more mature, confident look. It also reduces unnecessary color competition when TEAM is introduced in red—preventing visual striping and imbalance in TEAM USA FOOTBALL® lockups.

Clearer hierarchy, fewer visual conflicts

By limiting USA FOOTBALL to one core color, we avoid overcrowding the mark when additional elements (like TEAM) are introduced. This creates a clearer read at all sizes and across applications—from digital to uniforms to broadcast.
