INDIANAPOLIS – USA Football, the sport’s National Governing Body responsible for selecting, training and leading Team USA Football® for international competition, including the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, has named Marcel Reece its Senior Vice President of Football Strategy & Operations. Reece, a former All-Pro NFL fullback who initially joined USA Football earlier this year as a strategic advisor, transitions to a full-time executive role, reporting directly to CEO and Executive Director Scott Hallenbeck.
In his role, Reece oversees USA Football's entire football operation, driving the strategy, vision and success of the organization's national team programs, Olympic and high-performance pathways, scouting and talent identification, athlete development and grassroots growth, as well as USA Football's events portfolio.
"In a short time with USA Football, Marcel has already made meaningful contributions to our organization. With the Olympics on the horizon and the game growing at every level, this is exactly the right time to bring him on board full-time," said USA Football CEO Scott Hallenbeck. "His background as both a player and an executive brings a perspective that is truly unique and will strengthen everything our team has built, positioning us well for 2028 and beyond."
"Having had the opportunity to get to know this organization and the people driving it, I'm more committed than ever to what USA Football is building," said Reece. "Football has meant so much to me throughout my life, and the opportunity to lead USA Football's football operation and help grow this game is an honor. Flag football's Olympic debut in Los Angeles is a historic moment for the sport, and I'm proud to be part of this organization as we prepare for it.”
Before joining USA Football, Reece held the title of Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer with the Las Vegas Raiders, where he was responsible for all operations at Allegiant Stadium. Under his leadership, the venue earned recognition as the No. 1 stadium in the world from both Billboard and Pollstar while setting a record $182 million in revenue.
On the field, Reece spent 10 seasons as a player in the NFL with the Raiders and Seattle Seahawks. A celebrated All-Pro fullback, he totaled more than 2,000 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns across 96 regular season games. A five-time team captain, Reece received the Raiders' Commitment to Excellence Award in 2013, represented his teammates as the team's NFLPA representative and earned a Walter Payton Man of the Year nomination.
After his playing days, Reece moved into the broadcast booth as a national television analyst for NFL Network and FOX Sports before joining the Big Ten Network as an on-air analyst. He is also the founder of the Marcel Reece Foundation, reflecting his longstanding commitment to community service and youth development.
A native of Inglewood, Calif., Reece earned his bachelor's degree in Sociology and American Ethnic Studies from the University of Washington and completed the Executive Leadership Program at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. He is an officer of the Al Davis-Eddie Robinson Leadership Academy and a member of the Board of Directors for the University of Nevada, Reno College of Business School of Sports Management.
