USA FOOTBALL HOSTS ADULT & JUNIOR FLAG NATIONAL TEAM TRAINING CAMP AT UNITED STATES PERFORMANCE CENTER IN CHARLOTTE, NC

– Men’s and Women’s National Teams prepare to defender world championship crowns –

– Next wave of flag football stars gets ready to take on the Junior International Cup –

USA Football, the governing body of American football in the United States, will hold its U.S. National Team Training Camp at the United States Performance Center on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte from Thursday, May 30 – Saturday, June 1. The 2024 U.S. Men’s and Women’s and the 15U and 17U Boys’ and Girls’ Flag National Teams, totaling 108 athletes, will be in attendance.

Interest and participation in flag football are exploding domestically and internationally. This past October, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced that flag football will be included in the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, further accelerating the sport’s exponential growth.

Training Camp helps the U.S. National Teams prepare to face world-class competition this summer. The adults will defend their status as reigning world champions at the 2024 International Federation of American Football (IFAF) Flag Football World Championship, in Lahti, Finland in August. It’s expected to be the largest World Championship to date.

Last year, the U.S. Men’s and Women’s Flag National Teams won gold medals in Charlotte at the first-ever IFAF Americas Continental Flag Football Championship.

Meanwhile, the Junior National Teams will travel to Los Angeles to compete against international squads in the third annual Junior International Cup. Last year’s event took place in Charlotte and featured teams from Canada, Japan, Mexico and Panama. USA Football’s Junior National Teams faced and defeated Japan in all four gold medal matches.

USA Football is the organization responsible for fielding and leading the national teams at the junior and adult levels that will represent our country in international competitions.

Athletes attending Training Camp previously competed in U.S. National Team Trials in Charlotte. Out of the 18 athletes invited for each team, 12 will be named to the final active rosters while the remaining six will serve as alternates eligible to be called up in case of injury.

The 108 athletes descending on Charlotte represent 23 states, including Ariz., Calif., Conn., Fla., Ga., Ill., Kan., La., Mass., Md., Mich., Mo., N.C., Nev., N.J., N.Y., Ohio, Pa., Tenn., Texas, Va., Wis. and W.Va. Amber Clark and Madison Fulford on the women’s team and Kingston Harris and Kerry “Rakem” Hammock on the boys’ teams are North Carolina natives.
