U.S. UNDER-18 NATIONAL TEAM ROSTER ANNOUNCED FOR INTERNATIONAL BOWL IX AT AT&T STADIUM IN ARLINGTON, TEXAS

Fifty-one high school student-athletes spanning 24 states have been selected for the 2018 U.S. Under-18 National Team, USA Football announced today. The U.S. Under-18 National Team will compete against the Under-18 Canadian National Team on Wednesday, Jan. 17.

For the fourth year in a row, AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, home of the Dallas Cowboys and college football’s Goodyear Cotton Bowl, will host International Bowl IX. Kickoff is 8:00 p.m. CT. The U.S. Under-18 National Team will arrive in Arlington on Jan. 12.

International Bowl IX features 24 high school and middle school-aged teams across eight nations on three continents. U.S. National Teams will compete against teams representing Canada, Japan, Mexico and the Nordic region, comprised of players and coaches from Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. As a member of the U.S. Olympic Committee and the sport’s national governing body, USA Football manages U.S. National Teams for international competition.

The head coach of the U.S. Under-18 National Team is MATT GEGENHEIMER of Prior Lake High School (Savage, MN). Gegenheimer has served as the head coach of Prior Lake for the past 13 seasons. In 2011, Gegenheimer guided the Lakers to their first state tournament appearance in program history. Prior Lake returned to the state playoffs again in 2012 and 2014. Gegenheimer is also a USA Football regional master trainer, teaching proper on-field technique and nationally endorsed player health protocols to coaches nationwide.

U.S. National Team alumni include WR COREY COLEMAN (Cleveland Browns), WR DEVIN FUNCHESS (Carolina Panthers), RB TODD GURLEY (Los Angeles Rams), DB TYRANN MATHIEU (Arizona Cardinals), OL JACK MEWHORT (Indianapolis Colts), RB SAMAJE PERINE (Washington Redskins) and DE STEPHON TUITT (Pittsburgh Steelers) and QB JAMEIS WINSTON (Tampa Bay Buccaneers).

All International Bowl games will be played at AT&T Stadium. Game days are Friday, Jan. 12; Wednesday, Jan. 17; and Friday, Jan. 19, each consisting of four games.

Broadcast information for all 12 games will be announced soon. International Bowl game tickets and details are available at internationalbowlix.com.

Practices and games are open to media. Credentials may be obtained by emailing media@usafootball.com.
