U.S. MEN'S AND WOMEN'S FLAG NATIONAL TEAMS EACH NOTCH 2-0 RECORDS TO KICKOFF 2021 IFAF FLAG WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS IN JERUSALEM
The U.S Men’s & Women’s Flag National Teams opened competition at the 2021 International Federation of American Football (IFAF) Flag World Championships today, Monday, Dec. 6, in Jerusalem, Israel. The IFAF world championships run from Dec. 6-8.
On Monday, the U.S. Men’s team defeated France in their first game, 57-32, and defeated Chile, 76-0, in its second game of the day. Meanwhile, the U.S. Women’s team defeated Team Neutral in their first game, 46-12, and added a 39-0 win over France to close the day out for a 2-0 record as well.

An IFAF event record-number of 39 Men’s and Women’s flag national teams (combined) spanning 22 countries are competing for gold medals in Jerusalem. IFAF, established in 1998, consists of 73 member nations on five continents which possess a national federation of sport dedicated solely to American Football. The number of member countries within the IFAF family has nearly doubled in the past 15 years.
Play for both U.S. teams continues tomorrow, Tuesday, Dec. 7, as each begin their slate of games at 2 a.m. ET. The U.S. women will start their day against Spain before playing Finland while the U.S. men begin Tuesday playing India, followed by their game against Spain.
Following Tuesday’s games, quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals will be played on Wednesday, Dec. 8 to determine the 2021 Men’s and Women’s IFAF World Champions.
