STEELERS HEAD COACH MIKE TOMLIN TO DELIVER KEYNOTE ADDRESS AT USA FOOTBALL’S 2019 NATIONAL CONFERENCE

INDIANAPOLIS – Pittsburgh Steelers head football coach MIKE TOMLIN will address more than 1,000 high school and youth football coaches and administrators from across the country at the USA Football 2019 National Conference in Orlando, Fla., Feb. 22-24.

Tomlin joins University of Minnesota head football coach P.J. FLECK, University of Tennessee head football coach JEREMY PRUITT and Ret. Navy SEAL Cdr. MARK DIVINE as keynote speakers.

In his 12 years as head coach of the Steelers, Tomlin has led Pittsburgh to six AFC North titles and guided the team to eight playoff berths, including two trips to the Super Bowl (XLIII and XLV). He became the youngest head coach in NFL history to both coach in and win a Super Bowl when he led the Steelers to a 27-23 victory over the Arizona Cardinals in Super Bowl XLIII (36 years, 323 days).

“We are excited to welcome Coach Tomlin to our exceptional roster of presenters in Orlando,” USA Football CEO SCOTT HALLENBECK said. “Coach Tomlin stands among the finest and most successful coaches at the highest level of our sport. In addition, his involvement across youth and high school football in Pittsburgh and his hometown of Hampton Roads, Va. shows the value he places on community and mentoring young players.”

Tomlin became only the eighth head coach in NFL history to reach 100 regular-season wins in their first 10 seasons and since taking the Steelers’ reins in 2007, the team’s record is a sterling 125-66-1 (.654), the best mark in franchise history. Under Tomlin’s direction, Pittsburgh’s 94-49-1 record since the start of this decade (2010) is only eclipsed by the New England Patriots (113-31).

“I am pleased to be with the USA Football family at its National Conference,” Tomlin said. “These coaches, athletic directors and parents form the backbone of our communities as well as our sport. I look forward to meeting them and sharing all I can about the power of football in the lives of our kids and teaching it in a way that inspires them far beyond the playing field.”

February marks the sixth annual USA Football National Conference, an education and networking opportunity for high school and youth football administrators and coaches to gain insight on best practices, innovation and smarter play. The conference drew leaders across the sport in 2018, including international participants from Canada, Mexico, Scotland and Sweden. A member of the U.S. Olympic Committee and the sport’s national governing body, USA Football trains more high school and youth coaches combined than any organization in the United States.

Past USA Football National Conference speakers include Pro Football Hall of Famers TONY DUNGYBILL POLIAN, CRIS CARTER and MIKE SINGLETARY as well as Oakland Raiders head coach JON GRUDEN, Green Bay Packers President and CEO MARK MURPHY, and others.
