NATIONAL FITNESS FOUNDATION AND USA FOOTBALL ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP

USA Football becomes first U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee Member to support the National Youth Sports Strategy and National Endowment for Youth Sports

WASHINGTON, DC. (November 7, 2019) – USA Football and National Fitness Foundation (NFF) today announced an important partnership to support and expand youth sport and athletic participation in the United States.

USA Football, which educates and certifies more youth and high school football coaches combined than any organization to advance safer play, is the first sports governing body to support the National Youth Sports Strategy.

The Strategy is a comprehensive physical activity plan for American youth authored by the Department of Health & Human Services, Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion and the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition. USA Football also recently endorses the Protecting Student-Athletes from Concussions Act, introduced last month by U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) to protect elementary and secondary school student-athletes.

Through this partnership, USA Football will share and promote the National Youth Sports Strategy with America’s youth and high school football family. The Strategy’s innovation parallels that which is found within USA Football’s Football Development Model (FDM). The FDM is the sport’s first long-term athlete development model, teaching through a skill-based progression that is developmentally appropriate physically, mentally and socially.

“We're very excited to partner with USA Football,” said Clay Walker, Executive Director of the National Fitness Foundation. "The positive culture change that USA Football has helped deliver to our country’s favorite sport is exceptional, even for the most forward-thinking of national governing bodies.”

“Advancing the health and welfare of young athletes – across football and all sports – is tremendously important to us,” said USA Football CEO Scott Hallenbeck. “The National Youth Sports Strategy aligns with USA Football’s values, helping kids enjoy the fun of sports and providing them with a path for life-long wellness and health.”
