JUNIOR FLAG FOOTBALLERS BEGIN THE HUNT FOR GOLD MEDALS AT U.S. NATIONAL TEAM TRIALS
Top 160 total boys and girls flag football players nationwide descend on Charlotte. The Junior National Teams will represent the U.S. on the international stage this summer.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – USA Football, the sport’s governing body responsible for fielding the U.S. National Teams for international competition, including the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympics, will hold its annual Junior U.S. National Team Trials from March 13-16 at the United States Performance Center on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
In total 160 of the nation’s top boys and girls flag football players will compete for roster spots on the 15U and 17U Boys’ and Girls’ U.S. National Teams. These athletes come from across the United States, with representation from 22 states and Mexico. A full list of Trials participants can be found here.
USA Football’s junior national teams will represent the U.S. at USA Football’s Junior International Cup in Los Angeles this summer. Last year’s cup featured teams from Canada, Japan, Mexico and Panama.
The Junior National Teams are part of the pathway for athletes to reach the U.S. Men’s and Women’s National Teams that will represent our country when flag football makes its Olympic debut in 2028. This past year, several former Junior National Team athletes won world championships with the U.S. Women’s National Team.
Athletes participating in U.S. National Team Trials will compete in athletic testing and practice sessions with the hope of being among the 18 athletes per team who will be invited to U.S. National Team Training Camp from April 3-6 at Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center, the headquarters and training facility of the Minnesota Vikings in Eagan, Minn. There will be a second training camp later in the spring, which will help decide the final 12-athlete rosters and alternate slots.
Players, coaches and USA Football staff will be available for interviews on Friday, March 14 and Saturday, March 15 immediately before and after practice. A schedule with media availability is located below.
The U.S. Men’s and Women’s National Teams will have their Trials from March 20-23 at the same location. USA Football, in partnership with Duality Sports & Entertainment, recently debuted their first documentary, “Champions Rising: USA Football's National Team” following the U.S. Men’s and Women’s National Teams on the thrilling path from U.S. National Team Training Camp to winning the 2024 IFAF Flag Football World Championships.
