INDIANAPOLIS – The Darius Shaquille Leonard Maniac Foundation, founded by Indianapolis Colts All-Pro linebacker Shaquille Leonard, and USA Football have teamed up to award $10,000 in grants to youth football programs throughout the greater Indianapolis area. Given the Maniac Foundation’s dedication to improving the lives of children and USA Football’s role as the sport’s national governing body, both organizations work together to implement healthy, sustainable and productive youth football programs across the region.

As part of the grants, five area leagues will each earn a $2,000 operating grant from BSN Sports, the largest team sports equipment and apparel distributor in the United States. Grants from BSN Sports were made possible by the Maniac Foundation and will be awarded based on need, merit and an organization’s commitment to coaching education and best practices. Organizations can apply for this grant here. The USA Football and Maniac Foundation grants are part of the independent non-profit’s comprehensive grant program, which will award up to $2 million in equipment and other resources this year to deserving youth leagues and multi-sport youth programs which offer football experiences.

“It’s very important to me to help grow the sport of football in the Indianapolis community through these grants,” said Leonard. “Ultimately the goal is to reduce or eliminate barriers to play for the young kids in my community, and I am pleased to be able to help these organizations pave the way for the next generation of football players to succeed.”

The Maniac Foundation and USA Football grant application is open to any youth football or middle school program that plays contact, non-contact or modified football.  The grant application deadline is October 21, 2022. Grants will be awarded the first week of November. All applicants will be notified of their status at that time.

“We are pleased to stand with the Darius Shaquille Leonard Maniac Foundation as well as our friends at BSN to serve children who love to play our sport across Colts Country,” USA Football CEO SCOTT HALLENBECK said. “Darius’ personal involvement and financial support of these youth football programs underscore his leadership and integrity on and off of the field.”
