ALLSTATE SUGAR BOWL AND USA FOOTBALL TO SUPPORT NEW PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASS OFFERING IN JEFFERSON PARISH SCHOOLS
NEW ORLEANS – The Allstate Sugar Bowl will partner with USA Football to enable the public school system of Jefferson Parish (La.) to implement a new physical education class offering aligned with USA Football’s Football Development Model (FDM). USA Football’s FDM is the sport’s first long-term athlete development model. All 82 Jefferson Parish Schools will receive equipment and curriculum from USA Football to benefit more than 50,000 students.
“We commend Jefferson Parish Schools’ commitment to provide its students with a premier educational experience,” said USA Football CEO SCOTT HALLENBECK. “Through this offering, made possible by the Allstate Sugar Bowl, more kids will enjoy the fun of our country’s favorite sport, which can serve as a springboard to a healthier, active lifestyle.”
“We appreciate the opportunity to work with USA Football to bring an exciting new opportunity to the kids of Jefferson Parish,” said Allstate Sugar Bowl CEO JEFF HUNDLEY. “The Sugar Bowl Committee has been involved in the support of youth sports since its inception. We’re thrilled with this new initiative that will introduce the great game of football, and the many virtues it represents, to young people in the area.”
"We are thankful for this investment in our students and teachers,” said Jefferson Parish Schools Superintendent DR. CADE BRUMLEY. “There are few greater investments than in enriching the lives of our kids."
Aligned with the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee’s American Development Model, the FDM is a forward-thinking framework that serves to build better athletes and increase participation. Centered on the fun of football to strengthen physical literacy, the FDM is based on progressive skill instruction that is developmentally appropriate physically, mentally and socially.
