Summer is right around the corner and that means USA Football’s Protection Tour is hitting the road and coming to your town! This free, one-day football camp is the perfect opportunity to get your players out on an NFL field and learn the fundamentals of football, get their helmet fitted, and more.
1. Parents are directly involved.
From proper tackling techniques to how to recognize concussion symptoms and fit equipment, parents can share in the learning with their child.
2. Your child will have fun.
He or she will enjoy meeting other athletes and receiving one-on-one football instruction at an NFL site. At the same time, you can rest assured knowing that your child is learning to play the sport they love the right way.
3. It’s interactive and individualized.
Parents and coaches have the opportunity for small-group interaction with health and safety thought leaders and individual, hands-on instruction from an equipment fitting expert.
4. The event will benefit every kind of parent or youth coach.
Whether you’re a first-time football parent new to the sport or a veteran coach looking to expand your knowledge with the most recent information on concussion recognition and tackling fundamentals, the Protection Tour will cater to your needs.
USA Football would like to thank the following corporate partners for their support of the Protection Tour:
Founded in 1929, Riddell is a premier designer and developer of protective sports equipment and a recognized leader in helmet technology and innovation. One of BRG Sports’ most well-known brands, Riddell is the leading manufacturer of football helmets, shoulder pads and reconditioning services (cleaning, repairing, repainting and recertifying existing equipment). For more information, visit our website at www.riddell.com, like the Riddell Facebook page, or follow Riddell on Twitter and Instagram @RiddellSports.
Each event is limited to 250 athletes plus their parents and coaches. Participants will be properly fitted for a helmet by a Riddell representative. If you have your helmet – bring it. If not, we’ll fit one for you and provide you with the proper measurements to share with your youth football league.
Protection Tour provides athletes, parents and coaches with a unique chance to lineup on the same field as their favorite NFL players.
Players, parents, and coaches participate in an interactive session with Riddell in which they learn to properly fit an athlete’s helmet.
Youth football participants have the opportunity to interact with NFL mascots and players.
USA Football Master Trainers teach youth football players and coaches proper tackling fundamentals based on the Shoulder Tackling system.
Athletes will go through fun, competitive and educational drills, that are based on USA Football’s Heads Up Football program.
Youth football parents and coaches receive an educational seminar on concussion awareness presented by AIG and third-party medical expert provided by USA Football.

I AM HAVING PROBLEMS REGISTERING; CAN YOU HELP?
We always recommend that you use a personal computer instead of a smartphone, tablet, or work computer. To register for the Protection Tour, the best internet browsers to use are Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. You will receive a confirmation email when you have successfully registered.
HOW DO I REGISTER MORE THAN ONE PLAYER OR A TEAM?
We encourage groups and teams to all participate together, however, each child needs to be registered individually. Please make sure each participant signs their own waiver while registering. The emergency contact information provided can be for the child’s parent, or the adult/coach who will be in attendance.
CAN MY CHILD PARTICIPATE EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE NOT CURRENTLY ON A FOOTBALL TEAM?
Of course! The Protection Tour is a great way for everyone to learn safety techniques before or after joining a team.
DO I NEED TO BRING ANY PAPERWORK TO REGISTRATION?
No, you do not need to bring or print out any forms for registration. Your online registration is all that we need.
WHAT SHOULD MY CHILD WEAR? CLEATS?
All participants should wear athletic shorts and a t-shirt. A jersey will be provided for your players during registration. Please only wear athletic sneakers; no cleats will not be permitted on the field.
SHOULD THEY BRING THEIR HELMET OR SHOULDER PADS?
If your player has their own football helmet we encourage them to bring it for the individual Riddell Equipment Fitting Station. Don’t worry if you do not have a helmet, Riddell has samples on site to make sure you get the right fit. Your player will not need to wear their helmet or shoulder pads during the football drills.
SHOULD I BRING WATER?
Gatorade hydration stations are available throughout the entire event, but you are welcome to bring your own water bottles.
IS THE CAMP OUTSIDE?
Our camps are all held outside on an NFL field, however, the parent session is held indoors.
WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS?
The Protection Tour will be held rain or shine. If there is lightning in the area the event will be cancelled. Expect an email notification if this is the case.
WHAT TIME SHOULD I ARRIVE?
We recommend that you arrive no later than 30 minutes prior to the start of the camp for check-in. The Riddell Helmet Fitting Station will be available for one hour prior to the start of the camp. An event reminder email will be sent to all registrants prior to the event which will include a detailed schedule of events for the day.
CAN I TAKE PICTURES?
We encourage you to take pictures and videos. Share your excitement with all your family and friends on social media using #ProtectionTour or @usafootball
