USA FOOTBALL ANNOUNCES FINAL ROSTERS FOR 2023 FLAG NATIONAL TEAMS AHEAD OF CHARLOTTE EVENTS

INDIANAPOLIS – USA Football, a member of the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee and the sport's governing body, has announced the final rosters for the 2023 U.S. Men’s and Women’s and Boys’ and Girls’ Flag National Teams that will face international competition from July 5-7 in Charlotte, N.C. at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

At UNC Charlotte, the Men’s and Women’s National Teams will compete in the 2023 International Federation of American Football (IFAF) Americas Continental Flag Football Championship to crown the best team from North and South America, and the Boys’ and Girls’ 15U and 17U National Teams will compete in the second annual Junior Flag International Cup against teams fielded from across the globe. Both the IFAF Americas Continental Flag Football Championship and Junior Flag International Cup are open to the public and free to attend.

Media interested in covering the event should review USA Football’s media credentialing policy and complete a credential application.

Each National Team features a 12-player roster and alternates that were determined after the conclusion of National Team Training Camps.

Flag football is booming domestically. According to an annual participation study from the Sports and Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) in 2022, roughly 7.1 million people in the U.S. played flag football, including 2.5 million people who routinely engaged with the sport.

Flag football is also gaining significant international momentum. A record 39 combined men’s and women’s flag national teams from 22 nations participated in the 2021 IFAF World Championships, and IFAF’s family of nations that has increased more than 75 percent from 16 years ago. IFAF and USA Football hope to see flag football included in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.

The U.S. Men’s and Women’s Flag National Teams are reigning World Champions from the 2021 IFAF World Championships in Jerusalem, Israel. Both teams competed on the international stage when flag football debuted at The World Games (TWG) in Birmingham, Ala. last summer. The men secured gold while the women won silver.
