TOP WOMEN'S TACKLE FOOTBALL PLAYERS COMPETE FOR U.S. NATIONAL TEAM ROSTER SPOTS IN TAMPA, FLA.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Washington Commanders Coaches Lori Locust and Jennifer King, respectively, to assist at 2022 U.S. Women’s Tackle National Team Trials Event
USA Football, the sport’s national governing body and a member of the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee, will host more than 150 of the country’s top women’s tackle football players at its 2022 U.S. Women’s Tackle National Team Trials at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., on March 12-13.
The two days of workouts and player evaluations will help determine the 45 players named to the 2022 U.S. Women’s team roster. The U.S. team will compete for a gold medal at the 2022 International Federation of American Football (IFAF) Women’s World Championship in Vantaa, Finland, from July 28-Aug. 8.
The U.S. team’s head coach, CALLIE BROWNSON, the Cleveland Browns Chief of Staff for Head Coach Kevin Stefanski, will lead the weekend’s workouts. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Assistant Defensive Line Coach LORI LOCUST and Washington Commanders Assistant Running Backs Coach JENNIFER KING will assist Brownson and her seven-member U.S. National Team staff through position group instruction.

This summer marks the fourth IFAF Women’s Tackle World Championship, previously held in 2010 (Sweden), 2013 (Finland), and 2017 (Canada). U.S. National Teams, all built and managed by USA Football, have won gold medals at each of the previous three world championships. More than 70 nations spanning six continents possess national federations dedicated solely to American Football.
The eight qualifying national teams that will compete at the 2022 IFAF Women’s tackle World Championship in Finland from July 28-Aug. 8 are:
