The International Bowl is returning to Arlington, Texas, in 2015, and two Dallas-area coaches will lead the way for U.S. National Teams assembled by USA Football.

Claude Mathis of DeSoto High School is the head coach for the U.S. Under-18 squad, while Tom Westerberg of Allen High School will lead the U-19 team.

Mathis is no stranger to the national team program, serving as running backs coach in 2013 at the U-19 level and 2014 with the U-18 team during International Bowl play.

This time, the U-18 team plays Canada on Friday, Jan. 30, at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys.

“Being part of USA Football and our country's national team program is a tremendous source of pride for me,” Mathis said Tuesday during a press conference at Valley Ranch, headquarters for the Dallas Cowboys. “These are exciting experiences. It's especially powerful to see how football can bring a diverse group of young people together, not just from our 50 states but among athletes from other countries as well. The International Bowl series means more than great athletes playing a high level of football. It represents the power of an exceptional sport uniting young people like few other things can.”

Mathis has been the head coach and athletic director at DeSoto since 2008, leading the Eagles to a 73-18 record. A two-time All-America running back at Texas State University, signed as an undrafted free agent with the Minnesota Vikings in 1998, but his career was cut short because of injuries.

Westerberg has been the head coach at Allen for the past decade, compiling a record of 118-16, including three 5A Division I state titles. He and the Under-19 team will face Team Canada on Saturday, Feb. 7, at the University of Texas-Arlington’s Maverick Stadium.

The 2014 National High School Coaches Association Coach of the Year, Westerberg will be joined on the Under-19 team by his quarterback, Kyler Murray, who has verbally committed to play at Texas A&M.

International Bowl series tickets begin as low as $10 and are available here. Children ages 14 and younger are admitted free.
