Here’s a fake punt against heavy rush teams that Montana State uses

Most punt plays are pretty routine.

Snap, block, punt, release.

The one thing that varies is how much pressure the defense brings into the backfield.

Montana State head coach Rob Ash added a wrinkle into his special teams playbook, allowing one side of the defense to crash his shield formation and open up a short dump pass over the middle.

He recently shared this on AFCAWeekly.com.

The goal, he said, is to convince the defensive players that they have broken through, then drag a receiver across the formation for a wide open throw.

Here it is.
