How to win with class

By Stephen Spiewak | Posted 9/30/2016

Nearly all high school coaches share the same fundamental values of coaching. Winning is important, but secondary. What's primary is helping to shape and mold young men and women in a positive way.

The idea of "winning with class" is another football tenet on which most coaches agree. But what that means in practice is not clearly defined and can lead to any number of questions.

When does a coach pull his starters?

How can coaches be sure they're not running up the score?

Is the mercy rule necessary in high school football?

These questions and others were discussed in the #txhsfbchat, an organic gathering of high school football coaches in the state of Texas (and beyond) that takes place on Twitter every Wednesday evening.

Check out the conversation and insight shared in the chat recap below.
