USA Football introduces brand evolution

USA Football, the sport’s national governing body and a member of the U.S. Olympic Committee, today introduced an evolution of its brand to reflect the organization’s positive and burgeoning influence across high school and youth football.

The new primary logo for USA Football includes a traditionally American red, white and blue football resembling our nation’s flag with four white stars in a blue field atop three-dimensional red and white stripes. Each star in the logo ball represents a primary characteristic of USA Football’s brand: development, safety, values and participation.

Adjacent to the patriotic-themed football is a bold, yet streamlined, all-capitalized word mark punctuated with large letters spelling “USA” in blue above the word “football” in red. The eye-catching “S” in “USA” stretches to the right in a forward motion, capturing the organization’s progressive and medically endorsed work that empowers coaches through professional development, advancing player safety while inspiring participation within the sport’s inherent “team-before-me” values.

USA Football programs, including Heads Up Football High School, Heads Up Football Youth, U.S. National Teams and others incorporate the logo ball and names of programs within a red, white and blue crest. The crest features a forward-motion look with a streaming tail atop on its left side, signaling advancements USA Football delivers to the sport’s participants.

Brand pillars

“In 14 short years, USA Football has blossomed from an idea to become the only football-specific member in the history of the USOC that certifies more high school and youth coaches combined than any organization in the United States,” USA Football CEO Scott Hallenbeck said. “Our new family of marks share a forward-thinking story of becoming better and being part of something greater, beyond the limits of an individual. We’re growing with our constituents and this brand evolution captures that in an exciting way.”

A combined 21 state high school athletic associations and high school football coaches associations as well as the National Federation of State High School Associations endorse USA Football’s Heads Up Football High School program. Nearly 70 percent of all U.S. youth football leagues are enrolled in Heads Up Football, which is endorsed by leading medical associations, including the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, among others.
