4-foot-5 running back stands tall on Florida high school football team

Quick to the boundary. Silky smooth spin moves. Fearless blocker.

American Heritage High School senior Adam Reed may stand 4-foot-5, but he plays as big as anyone in Florida football.

And he’s showing it on the field for a team that has been ranked nationally by many outlets, including MaxPreps.

“I take my hat off to him,” Heritage coach Mike Rumph told the Florida Sun-Sentinel. “He does so many things well. We as a team don’t recognize him as a smaller person. We recognize him as Adam, who is part of the team. That’s says a lot about him.”

Reed grew up playing baseball, basketball and soccer. He told his mother in sixth grade he wanted to play football and worked hard to make it a reality.

Reed weighs 95 pounds but bench presses 200. He’s an inspiration to teammates and coaches.

He’s a player.

“I'm a little undersized,” the 17-year-old Reed told the Miami Herald. “But it’s, whatever. I don’t let my size stop me from doing anything.”
